Luis Enrique's squad is demonstrating resilience following the departure of their all-time leading scorer, Kylian Mbappe. PSG has won all three of their games this season, scoring 13 goals in total. Heading into the September international break, they are two points clear of Marseille, Nantes, Monaco, and Lens. With their current form, it will be challenging for others to dislodge them from the top spot.


Enrique praised his team’s performance, describing the start of the campaign as "magnificent." He acknowledged the difficulties of an away game against a team that has played more matches than PSG and noted areas for improvement despite the strong showing.


Lille's coach, Bruno Genesio, expressed disappointment over a disallowed late equalizer by Tiago Santos due to a very tight offside call. Genesio emphasized the need for precision in high-stakes matches like these, reflecting on the tight nature of the game.


Despite Lille's efforts and a close call when Bafode Diakite hit the post, PSG secured the win after a penalty awarded for a foul on Ousmane Dembele. Vitinha converted the spot-kick, and Barcola made it 2-0 shortly before halftime. Lille's Zhegrova gave them a brief spark of hope with his goal, but Kolo Muani's late header ensured PSG's victory.



Looking ahead, PSG will begin their Champions League campaign in mid-September against Girona, with fixtures also against Arsenal and Manchester City. Lille will host Real Madrid and Juventus, with their next match being an away game against Sporting Lisbon.


In other Ligue 1 action, Marseille defeated Toulouse 3-1 with Mason Greenwood scoring twice, Nantes beat Montpellier 3-1, and Monaco and Lens drew 1-1 with a late penalty securing a point for Lens. Nice earned their first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Angers, while Le Havre and Reims also secured wins against Auxerre and Rennes, respectively.
